William Faulkner once said that the only thing worth writing about is the human heart in conflict with itself. John Keats famously wrote, “Beauty is truth, truth beauty,—that is all Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know.” At Desert Willow Press, we think both formulations are insightful yet incomplete. Here’s our quest: we seek submissions of 14–28 pages of original poetry that represents an authentic expression of something of value. We cherish poetry immensely and promise to take good care of your work.
Submission Guidelines:
- Please submit 14-28 pages of your best poetry in .docx, .doc, .rtf, or .txt format
- Individual poems can be previously published but your manuscript should be unpublished as a collection
- Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please notify us if the chapbook is accepted elsewhere
- Multiple submissions are allowed, but each chapbook must be submitted individually
- We accept submissions throughSubmittableonly
- Please do not include your name or identifying information in the manuscript itself; we wish to consider only the quality of the work provided
Additional Information:
- If accepted for publication, your perfect-bound chapbook will be available for purchase at our online store
- The size of the print run will be based on the number of preorders your chapbook receives
- Compensation is in the form of author copies of your chapbook
- You should hear back from us within 3 months of submitting, but often much sooner
